Each year we put on a special exhibition in addition to the permanent displays so there is always something new to interest visitors. In 2026 come and discover the history of the Playing Close, the greatly valued green space in the centre of the town. In the past it was very different, a noisy, busy place full of middens, animals, workshops and hovels. Discover its fascinating history with us.

The museum is situated by the Corner House, Market Street, in the centre of town. Charlbury is a pleasant town to explore, with an attractive centre and many lovely walks in the locality. We are a small museum run entirely by volunteers. You can be sure of a warm welcome from our volunteer stewards when you visit.
Transport
There are regular bus services to Charlbury every day except Sundays.
We are on the train line from London Paddington and within easy walking distance of the railway station.
